New Year and Anniversary

January 2020 finds our chapter celebrating five years of belonging to The Modern Quilt Guild.

Though our first organizational meeting was at Linda's house in November 2012, it took a couple years to make our chapter viable.

We first met at Sharky's Vac 'n Sew, now called Sew Together, in Wildwood.

Some of us joined Instagram as soon as it became the place to find other quilters, and then followed along when IGers began making Trip Around the World quilts. Former member Sheddy shared a program about it.

We worked hard to help meeting attendees learn "what is modern?" We participated in one of The MQG's first challenges.

We used several activities to encourage members to make modern - a modern BOM...

... a mug rug swap...

...and an apron challenge.

Back then, our monthly Saturday Sew-Ins were at the Oxford Community Center.

When we outgrew our meeting space at Sharky's, we moved to North Lake Presbyterian Church and met in one of the classrooms.

At our Monday, January 13 meeting, we'll recollect more of our early days. Members who were around five to seven years ago are invited to share a memory.

We'll also enjoy treats! Please bring your favorite beverage with you.

Beth will present our program that includes introducing our first 2020 challenge.

Don't forget to wear a name tag.

See you Monday evening at 6:30 pm at North Lake Presbyterian Church, Lady Lake!
