Retreated!

We have two pretty special members to thank for the fun and success of our fourth annual quilting retreat from March 22-25 at Luther Springs in Hawthorne, Florida. Twenty quilters attended!
L-R: Jane and Dee
Jane and Dee made sure everyone received a lovely goodie bag that included a home-sewn "bowl buddy," and we had door prizes to choose from too. Thank you both for all your planning and effort!

We all shared the same room for cutting, sewing, pressing, eating, and lots of camaraderie and laughter. Sometimes perhaps more of the latter than the former!

Some of the projects that moved along, or even reached the "topper" stage are these...
Karen E. and her llama quilt
Linda T.
Rosemary made an under-machine mat with front pockets
Carol finally put together a quilt top for her son
Lynette finished piecing "Hue Knew," a pattern by Maria Pate made with Painter's Palette Solids.
Lynette was also our birthday girl! The little cake was made just for her and though it has a number 7 on top (it was the only numbered candle available), we're pretty sure she's not much older than that!

Ruth used fabrics from a kit to make a quilt top.
Ruth also used kit fabrics to piece an ombré backing.
Beth made a scrap bin, pin cushion, key tags and Pea Pod bags.
Beth completed this quilt top as her "Inspired by Color Challenge."
Please note: The DUE DATE for the Inspired by Color Challenge has been changed to May 13.
Dee pieced a modified version of the Zipper quilt pattern by Thimbleberries
Mel used fabrics from a Moda kit to make "Pink Lady."
Debbie's quilt top is based on Sherri Lynn Wood's improv "Floating Squares."
Debbie's "Bright Diamonds" needs only asymmetrical side borders.
Karen E. is making Violet Craft's giraffe with Kaffe Fassett fabrics and Grunge background.
Sincere apologies to quilters who were not photographed for inclusion in this post.

But everyone attending retreat is in this picture!

We shared an extra "thank you" with Miss Sarah from Luther Springs. She and her kitchen staff spoil us with much good food!

We hold our Tootsie Pops up high and resoundingly declared, "We're suckers for quilting!"

Mark your calendar for Quilt Retreat 2020!
Friday to Monday - May 8, 9, 10, and 11, 2020

March 4 Meeting

Twenty-eight quilters attended our March 4 meeting.

The evening was mostly spent reviewing QuiltCon, as 18 of our members attended. It was interesting to hear everyone's observations about the show, lectures, workshops, and vendors - trends seen, interesting information, and what might have made it better.

President Karen presented a fun QuiltCon quiz about MQG and QuiltCon statistics and information. Answers were shared on our previous QuiltCon blog posts, so if you've been reading our blog, you'd know the answers. :-)

Everyone who participated in Beth's @blue_dragonfly5 "Interleave" workshop at the February 9 Sew-In was invited to bring their finished project to show. We sure enjoy seeing so much color!

For a better look, here's each maker with her Interleave quilt.
