Crazy Mom Activities!

Since Hurricane Irma rolled through Central Florida, canceling both our September meeting and September Sew-In, we've been anxiously looking forward to sharing quilting again. A couple of fun activities are coming up!

Amanda Jean Nyberg, a very popular scrap-quiltmaker/sewist who blogs from Minnesota as CrazyMomQuilts is in Florida!

Many of us have been following her for a long time, and can easily recognize her distinctive scrappy style.

She has a reputation for making tiny pin cushions.

If you follow Amanda Jean on Instagram, you'll know that for the past few days, she's been in Orlando with the Orlando MQG chapter. Like many of us, she loves the ocean and posted this:

She'll arrive in The Villages on Sunday, and on Monday, October 2, 22 quilters will attend her all-day "Spin" workshop. Yes, that's a full workshop!

You may already be familiar with the book Amanda Jean wrote with Cheryl Arkison. It was published in 2012.

On Monday evening, Amanda Jean will present a trunk show of quilts from her newest (2017) book.

The program begins at 6:30 at North Lake Presbyterian Church, in the fellowship hall/contemporary worship center. Members should look for Dee and Jane at the lobby counter for their free admission ticket. Non-members will be be admitted for $5.

Because of Amanda Jean's visit to our chapter, the October 2 program/trunk show IS our regular meeting. There is no meeting October 9!

Also, because of Irma's interruption to our plans, the Instagram Challenge has been temporarily suspended. Updated information coming soon.

Cancellations

Due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Irma, both our monthly Sew-In at Belleview Public Library (scheduled for Saturday, September 9) and our regular monthly meeting at North Lake Presbyterian Church (scheduled for Monday, September 11) are cancelled.

Take cover, friends!

Plan to attend our Monday, October 2 meeting where we'll welcome special guest presenter Amanda Jean Nyberg.
