Traditional Block Challenge

Once again, our talented Beth @blue_dragonfly5 has come up with an exciting challenge for Central Florida MQGers.
TRADITIONAL BLOCK CHALLENGE
Here's what to do...
Select a traditional, named block that begins with your initial. Choose your:
first name, or
For example:"D" for drunkards's path

middle name, or
For example: "P" for pineapple block

 last name.
For example: "K" for kaleidoscope block

Beth plans to use this snail trail block that represents her last name.

Use the block you choose to design a modern quilt.
Your quilt may be any size, but no smaller than 20” on a side.
You might:
  1. redesign the block.
  2. super-size the block.
  3. create an improv version by cutting it up, mixing it up, and sewing it back together.
  4. mix some or all of the block pieces into a unique block.
  5. use the block as it is.
Consider the MQG's definition of modern, and how you might interpret that in your design.
....the use of bold colors and prints, high contrast and graphic areas of solid color, improvisational piecing, minimalism, expansive negative space, and alternate grid work. "Modern traditionalism" or the updating of classic quilt designs is also often seen in modern quilting.
Bring your finished quilt to our Monday, November 11 meeting, and a printed picture of your original block. We can't wait to see what you create!
