Florida's Newest MQG Chapter

The first meeting of the Central Florida Modern Quilt Guild is Thursday, November 15 at 6:30 p.m. Curious and interested quilters - and those who want to know about quilting - are invited to learn about this new quilt guild that is sweeping across the country. The program is "The Modern Quilt Guild: Quilting for a New Generation." We will answer the question, "What is modern quilting?" while looking at quilts and reviewing the aesthetics that make a quilt "modern." We'll also offer information about The Modern Quilt Guild that began in 2009. For more information visit The Modern Quilt Guild.

Sharky's Vac 'n Sew, 700 North Main St., Wildwood, Florida

Because a blog post - especially a quilting-related post - isn't complete without a photo, here's a recent quilt finish by a Central Florida MQG chapter member. This quilt was made in the Great Granny Along hosted by Lori at Bee in My Bonnet

See more photos of Great Granny blocks and quilts on Flickr, here.

Another member made this baby quilt.

In October, Central Florida MQG steering committee members challenged one another to "make a modern quilt block using at least one solid." Here are some of their blocks.

We believe everyone met the challenge, and then some!

We hope to see you November 15!
