January 14 Meeting

We had a great turnout for our first 2019 meeting with 36 attendees, two of whom were first-time visitors!

President Karen (@sunrayatplay) launched our meeting with information about upcoming activities - Sew-In Workshop, retreat, a guest presenter and workshop in April. Click this link for more information.

She also introduced a new addition to our lending library - rulers! Members may check out a variety of rotary cutting rulers from our chapter library. Click the tab above - Lending Library Rulers -  to see what rulers are in our library. More rulers will be added!

Our evening program was presented by Beth (blue_dragonfly5) who provided information about color...

... and introduced our chapter challenge - It's All About Color - that's due by our May 13 meeting.

Jane (@gonequiltinginflorida) revealed our finished QuiltCon Charity Challenge Quilt.

Dee (@quilterdee) was busy over the holidays, and shared six finished quilts.

This is Dee's "Modern Grandmother's Flower Garden" in Christmas fabrics, started during our chapter's November 12 workshop with Jen Lee, from Red Thread Studio.

This "Holiday Ornament Mini Quilt" is a free pattern by Lee Heinrich, on the Bernina We All Sew website.

This English paper-piecing mini was made during an Instagram #hexagonwaterfallsal hosted by @coffeeringstudio

This is "Don't Touch the Scissors," an appliqué quilt.

This is "Spools" made with Thimbleberries fabrics.

"Starburst" is a Jenny Doan pattern made with layer cakes. Dee quilted all her quilts on her home sewing machine.

Karen (@sunrayatplay) showed her finished Florida quilt, a pattern by member Linda (@flourishingpalms). She quilted it on her Tiara.

Karen also made this elephant quilt, requested by her sister, from a Violet Craft foundation paper-pieced pattern. She quilted it on her Tiara.

This is "London Nights," a Zen Chic appliqué pattern made by Carol.

Linda (@flourishingpalms) shared her entry into the Curated Quilts curve challenge. She used Victoria Findley-Wolfe's strip braid ruler, reduced to 60 percent, to cut and piece this mini, which wasn't accepted for publication.

This "Comfort Quilt" is from Amy Ellis's book, "Modern Heritage Quilts." It was made during the Instagram #comfortquiltqal She home machine quilted it using several methods, including ruler work.

Our next Central Florida MQG meeting is Monday, February 11.
