You Are Creative! by Anne Sullivan

On Monday, June 11, after the workshop, these members from the executive committee, and coordinators gathered to take Anne to dinner.
L-R: Bette, Dee, Anne, Gwen, Beth, Kathy, Karen, Debbie, and Linda
By 6 pm we were back at the church, setting up for Anne's presentation, "You Are Creative!" and trunk show. We had a very nice turnout of 48 people, including some members of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church. Thank you to all our guest for coming!

Anne shared a little of her background, followed by what she's learned about creating, including the fact that many of us have "fear" of trying new things. And that if we try and think we've failed we have negative self-talk and consciously begin to believe what our subconscious tells us.

It's important to move beyond that, even making mistakes because that's how we learn. Twenty minutes a day spent creatively will improve your skills to make creativity easier.

Nearly every quilt Anne shared has a story. This one, "Phoenix," is a free pattern of the month through the Modern Quilt Guild. (For members only.)

Anne made this quilt as a result of what she thinks about apartment-living.

This is Anne's statement quilt about the Pulse nightclub shootings in Orlando with 49 yellow squares representing the 49 victims.

"Reflection" is a quilt made following a year of several life challenges. It appears in Episode 204 of Fresh Quilting TV.

Everyone enjoyed Anne's message about creativity, and found it applicable to not only quilting, but other hobbies and activities as well.

Our sincere thanks to Anne for sharing her skills with us, and to Amazing Grace Lutheran Church for use of their facility.

Our Monday, July 9 meeting returns to North Lake Presbyterian Church. We will have a demonstration of new rulers; share our members' completed Inspiration Challenge Quilts; and talk with members about long-range planning for our chapter.
