August 8 Meeting

The Central Florida Modern Quilt Group now has an overall membership of 50. We had 20 in attendance at the August 8th meeting as many are still traveling for the summer, but much was discussed during the meeting.

Karen Estep shared a wonderful program on Fibonacci and how we as quilters can use it in our quilt designs. Below are a few images from the very informative presentation. We even participated in using Fibonacci to design a quilt back layout at the end of the program. For more information you can also visit Karen Estep's Pinterest page. https://www.pinterest.com/kcestep/fibonacci/

Several quilts were put together from the blocks that we made using traditional blocks and making them modern. We have some ideas on where we are going to donate these quilts and we will discuss it again next month.

This coming Thursday, August 11 at 9 pm our time, is Amy Ellis’ webinar: Designing Quilts in EQ7. If you own EQ7, or are considering a purchase, this will be a great overview of all you can do with the program.

You are encouraged to attend the webinar in real time, if possible, as that’s when you can ask questions by typing them into a chat box, and have them answered. But, if you can’t stay up that late (!), each webinar is available to members on the MQG website a day or two after the webinar. Find past webinars by clicking on:

We will have a display in the Belleview Public Library during the month of October. It is a small case and we need modern items to display. Some suggestions are small mini quilts, mug rugs, pincushions or small baskets. Please if you are will to have your modern item displayed bring it to the September meeting or September Sew day.

Next month the program will be all about how to enter a quilt into a show. It will be presented by Beth & Linda.
